Ingrown Toenail Correction
Ingrown toenails sound like such a minor condition, but if you have ever had one, you know just how painful one is. Some home removal procedures are successful in removing the ingrown nail and relieving the pain.
However, ingrown nails are just not that easy to remove. It requires some digging into the side of the toe to find the area that is causing the irritation. If the smallest piece of mail is left sticking out, the pain will return as soon as that sliver grows upward and out again.
Untreated ingrown nails have been known to progress into an infected wound. Severe pain, pus, and possibly blood can build up, and wearing shoes will become uncomfortable.
Shari L. Kaminsky in Florissant, Missouri, is skilled in dealing with ingrown toenails and keeping the feet in the best health.
An ingrown toenail is a jagged edge of the nail digging painfully into the soft tissue around the outer edges of the nail. A mild ingrown nail may be red and slightly painful when touched or when wearing shoes. More severe ingrown nails will develop scar tissue around it as well as pus and inflammation on the inside.
Diabetics and patients with other chronic conditions that affect the feet should be seen for ingrown nails for successful removal and advice on prevention techniques. Ingrown toenail removal is a fairly painless office procedure that takes approximately 30 minutes or less.
